Installation

  1. Extract the file gen_lcddisplay.dll from the downloaded zip file into the WinAmp plugin directory (normally c:\program files\winamp\plugins).

  2. Optional: Load a configuration (since version 0.3):

This will give a good starting point for your own settings.
Open the configuration of the plugin, go to the 'Output' tab, click the load button.
The zip file contains at least one configuration file in the 'config' folder.

  3. Configure the plugin.
    See Configuration section.

Winamp configuration for best results with the LCD title selection function:

  • MPEG input plugin:
Use "%1: %2" as the ID3v1/v2 title formatting string. On the display only the part after the colon will be displayed. In this case %2 = song title, but you can specify whatever you like.
Important: this functionality requires a space after the colon, otherwise everything will be displayed!

  • Options:
Set 'Read titles on' to Load.
Otherwise the title formatting string will only be applied to the titles that have already been displayed, i.e. if one loads several files and then goes in the select title menu only the first file will be formatted as specified!
The drawback of this method is that Winamp will access all files which might take a long time if the files are loaded from a CDRom or over the network.

Spectrum analyzer:

Important: The SA needs all custom characters! It's not possible to use any custom characters in any other rows.
  1. Extract the file vis_spec_analyser.dll from the downloaded zip file into the WinAmp plugin directory (normally c:\program files\winamp\plugins).

  2. Select the Spectrum Analyser LCD plug-in in Winamp visualization setup (make sure the LCD spectrum analyser is selected in the drop down box.)

    Winamp visualization cfg

Attention: there can only be one active visualization plug-in!

  3. Enable 'Auto execute visualization plug-in on play' in the main Winamp Plug-in cfg screen:

    Winamp auto execute vis plug-in

  4. Define an input event to start and stop the spectrum analyzer:

    SA input event

Or select Player Functions in the LCD menu - 'Spectrum analyzer'.

  5. If you barely see the analyzer increase the LCD contrast.
